Happy Valentine's Day!

What is Valentine's Day? Well, according to history, February 14th was in honor of the martyred Saint Valentinus. You can read the History Channels version here: The Legend of Saint Valentine's Day.

But for most of us, it represents love. It could be the love you have for your spouse or significant other, the love for a child or grandchild, the love for a parent. For me? It reminds me how lucky I am to be loved.

I have been happily married going on 29 years to a wonderful man who gave me two wonderful boys. They are both on their own now, creating Valentine's Days for their own loved ones. It's always nice to see the family expanding...but it also reminds me I am not getting any younger. So this Valentine's Day, don't forget your elders...those that loved you first. Call your parents if they are still alive--wish them a Happy Valentine's Day as well. I bet they would like to hear from you. Too often we forget them in our own busy lives. I know how special it is to me when my children think of me and pick up that phone or stop by.

And with that...I wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day...and, of course, don't forget the chocolate!

Social media...where does it end? There are new places every day to sign up for where we, as authors, can post to share our goings on and get our names out there. The trouble is...if we signed up for all of them, we'd never keep up and never get any writing done. Onto more fun stuff...I am hooked on a new song. Yep, darn thing is stuck in my head. And just so you can sing along with me, Check out Maroon 5's new Video: Moves Like Jagger. He's not bad on the eyes either, girls...so check him out. I am personally waiting for the TV show: The Voice coming back February the 5th! I really liked season 1 and the play between the guest celebs. So follow the link and check it out.

Being a big fan of music, can't wait for American Idol to return as well this month. I do love singing shows. xFactor would have been better if the judges wouldn't have argued and dissed each other so much. For me, it got old.

Also out this month: Underworld: The Awakening. Now I am not happy that Scott Speedman is not in this film. However, I will keep an open mind and see if Theo James can hold up his end...movie hottie. Speaking of movie hotties, the movie: The Vow is coming out this February as well with Channing Tatum and Scott Speedman (see picture to the left). Yep...same one missing from the above mentioned movie. Check the trailer and site out for that. Looks like a great movie.

A new year is just around the corner. This is the time to reflect on the past year and look forward to a new and better year. Some of us had good years, some of us had bad years, but here's hoping for a prosperous 2012 for us all! Celebrate New Years Eve with family and friends...most of all, be safe. I wanted to pop in and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday. 'Tis the season to reflect and remember, create new memories, to be joyous for the occasion and for what you have. For forgiveness, for love and laughter, and remember...we are all human. Don't let old wounds or bad times ruin what the day is. So square your shoulders, gather your family around, and be blessed for the beauty of what this holiday has to offer!

2012 is but a short week away. It's a time for new beginnings, new and better memories and hopefully a much better year for all. 2011 was a good year for me. I am blessed with a great family. I enjoy having them around to watch movies with, play games and to just enjoy each other's company. Remember...life is short...so enjoy it while you have it and NEVER live with regrets. Don't wait for tomorrow with what could be said today.

We had a few great additions for 2012. My granddaughter Quinn was born this year to my son Tory and his wife Katelyn. Quinn's a beauty...look at that smile! Our family was also blessed with a new girlfriend for my son, Nick, we welcome Alicia into the family. We are thrilled that he has found a good woman.

What are you happy for? What are you looking forward to in the new year? Resolutions?

I always make resolutions and it seems I break them. But this year my resolutions are: get the the gym more often, go to church more often, and think before I speak. Too many times it seems my mouth doesn't say what my brain is thinking, for the good or bad. Which usually gives good tales for my family to talk about for YEARS to come. But...laughter is the best medicine.

Christmas, Short Story, and Cookies...

What in the world do they all have in common? The holidays bring out the best is us, it's a time for second chances...and a time to BAKE! We all love holiday goodies!

My mother makes the best Coconut Macaroons! I haven't tried to make them myself...goodness knows how I can screw them up, but this year I will prevail. So, I am sharing her recipe with you.

Coconut Macaroons
1/2 cup egg whites
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
2 1/2 cups of moist coconut

Beat the egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until the soft peaks form again.Fold in vanilla and coconut. Drop by teaspoons two inches apart on cookie sheet lined with plain baking paper. Bake for 20 minutes at 325 degrees.

"We’re leaving."

Her gaze widened. "So soon? But--"

Jaycen gripped her arm and pulled her toward the staircase. She looked back at Dax, who no doubt stood watching the spectacle Jaycen created. He didn’t give a damn. Dracula should feel damn lucky dragging Sara away had been his only move. Had he followed his gut instincts, the man would be lying in a pool of blood.

Finally outside on the sidewalk, Jaycen gulped in fresh air. He released Sara and leaned against the building. She planted her fists on her hips. "You mind telling me what this is all about?"

Several cars buzzed down the busy avenue as the street lamps cast an eerie amber glow to the cloudy night. Hell, where would he start? The part where his wife likely snorted the white stuff? Or the part where she had Dracula securely wrapped between her thighs as he slammed into her in a public restroom? He stabbed his hand into his hair and fought another oncoming panic attack. He drew in oxygen, squared his shoulders and faced Sara head on. Maybe telling someone might help him cope with Kelly Jo’s betrayal. He certainly wasn’t handling it well on his own.

Obviously seeing his distress, she stepped closer and laid a hand on his cheek. "What’s wrong, Jay? You’re scaring me."

Jaycen bowed his head, not shaking off her touch. He leaned into the heat like a moth drawn to flames. Her gaze widened, her lips parted, and he kissed her.~

Speaking of Trailers...

Hubby and I have discovered Date Night, not the movie...but a night for us to go out and relax and watch a movie. Every Monday or Tuesday (providing there is something worth seeing), we go to the theaters for a little escape and some movie theater popcorn (okay...so I said this early...but just in case you missed it ;).

One thing I have noticed...trailers are often deceiving or they show way too much. Either they show too little and you show up expecting a completely different type of movie or you wind up feeling like you already watched it. A good trailer will hint at the exact feel of the movie, and give you just enough to entice you. What fun is it if you go in to watch a comedy and you feel like you already saw it. I certainly expected that with DUE DATE...but that movie had so many funny parts...that the trailers did leave a lot for the actual movie.

Take the movie DRIVE with Ryan Gosling. Definitely the Hollywood 'It' boy (or should I say man) right now with a bunch of movies coming out this fall with him staring in it. For the record: CRAZY STUPID LOVE made me a fan of Gosling's! An excellent movie and a MUST SEE! The word PHOTOSHOP will have a whole new meaning! Anyway...back to DRIVE and the trailer. I expected an action movie, fast paced, what fun!! But no...what I got was a noir film, slow paced...yawn if I must...with a bit of overkill violence...and a lot of very uncomfortable stares. Glad I watched CRAZY STUPID LOVE first, as I am still a Gosling fan. But had I watched DRIVE first and not CRAZY STUPID LOVE, I might have thought Gosling a bit too creepy for my tastes. Anyway...sorry, DRIVE didn't do it for me and I felt like it was a wasted hour and forty minutes.

STRAW DOGS anyone? Well, shoot...with Alexander Skarsgard, who can go wrong? I love Eric Northman. What can I say--bad boys do it for me. This movie's trailer was pretty spot on and left a bit of surprises for the movie. Overall--wasn't a bad movie...though certainly not great. And even though Alexander plays a REALLY bad man, an uncomfortable scene thrown in to prove as much, I still came away loving the actor. He truly has some talent. And the abs aren't so bad on the eyes either.

Critics didn't give good reviews on STRAW DOGS, but loved DRIVE. I'm no movie critic...but on this one, I'd say they got it backwards. Not that I loved STRAW DOGS...but it was way better than DRIVE.

Next week, the question is: which movie? KILLER ELITE with Jason Statham or WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER? with Chris Evans? I'm leaning toward the latter...mix up the thriller and violence with a bit of a feel good movie. Yep...I love my chick flicks. I even watched PROM, which wasn't bad, by the way. It's a cute show as far as chick flicks go.

Book trailers and their benefits...

Recently, I've created five book trailers for five of my books. See DEADLY OBSESSION's trailer below. Why did I create them? Because I thought they were cool. Because they seemed all the rage. Because...well, other authors were doing them and we are a very visual society. One can rack up quite a bill if they pay for a professional company to create them. There are many online places such as: Circle Seven Productions, iVideo Productions, Blackbeard Books only to name a few, who create wonderful visual masterpieces. I opted to go it myself and spent a small amount for picture and soundtrack rights. Not everyone can afford that type of promotion, nor have the skill to create one themselves. So the question becomes...

Do they boost your sales? Honestly, not likely. At least not enough to warrent spending a lot on one. From what I have heard from readers, they like to view them but the trailers do not necessarily influence their decision to purchase a book one way or another. Sales still boil down to great covers, well-thought out synopsis, recommendation from friends, and prior knowledge of authors.

So what's the answer to BIG sales now that times are changing and more and more readers are going online for their purchases? Websites? Word-of-mouth? Advertising? Social networking? Or just plain luck? Likely, all of the above.

If you are an author who has a big advertizing budget, I would definitely go with a great company like Circle Seven Productions, who produce beautiful book trailers. Nothing like the old adage, you get what you pay for. You pay for quality--you get quality. But if you are like me and your budget is very limited, you can use Windows Live Movie Maker (free on Windows 7), a website like iStock Photo for your photos and a sound effects website like NeoSounds for your soundtracks. For around $50, you can create some professional looking trailers like on my YouTube Channel: Parasey. For the above trailer, DEADLY OBSESSION, I was lucky enough to get my sountrack 'Solaris' from Celldweller and FiXT. The guys were great...and all because I sent them an email expressing interest. But do not use any photos are soundtracks without the permission of the owner.

So what about you? Do you think creating Book Trailers or having them created is worth an author's time? I'm not sure about how they affect sales, but I sure did enjoy making them! I hope you enjoy viewing them....

Daniel Craig and the aliens...

I went to the movies with my hubby...date night. We have this little thing on Tuesdays where we go to see movies, eat popcorn and just relax and enjoy the show. Not every week, because our theaters don't always have a flick we want to see.Well, this week's show was COWBOYS AND ALIENS. Not one I would have normally picked. My hubby suggested it, and I was like: Really? Game for about anything, and the fact it did have some big stars: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford...you get the picture.

Daniel Craig isn't what I'd call a handsome man, but boy the man knows sexy. This picture is him in his first James Bond movie....Casino Royale was great. What I like about Daniel in the Bond role...he played a kick ass Bond. He was mean...and I love mean. COWBOYS AND ALIENS did not disappoint! Daniel was again shirtless (YAY!) and he was mean! After 2 hours of action, I walked away loving this movie. Okay, I know Daniel did have something to do with it...but that aside, COWBOYS AND ALIENS was a pretty good action flick. Kudos to my hubby for suggesting we see it. Next up? CONAN and FRIGHT NIGHT. Can't wait to see them! So what movies have been your favs this summer?

As they shook hands, Tev felt the slight brush of Raven’s middle finger across his wrist. Hostilities aside, Tevan had struck pay dirt. His first vampyre--the handshake told him as much. Now if he could just manage to get into Raven’s good graces. By his actions, Raven seemed protective of Krys, whether she wanted that guardianship or not. She almost appeared to be afraid of the man, if her body language was any indication. Tev intended to find out the extent of their strange relationship and how far Raven’s safekeeping of Krys went.

"Don’t mind him." Krys’s cheeks flushed, easily seen even in the dim lighting. "For some reason he feels this need to keep an eye out for me."

"Don’t worry about it. Raven doesn’t know me. He’s only being protective of you, which I can understand." Tev glanced at side stage where Raven regained his position. Raven’s gaze stayed fixed on them. "So what’s your relationship with him?" Tev gave Krys his attention, figuring it best to ignore the man. He wanted to gain Raven’s confidence, not alienate himself so early in the game.

"We share the same dwelling. He thinks that makes him my keeper."

"You live together?"

"We aren’t lovers or anything like that. We share a mutual friend."

Krys set her empty glass on the bar, appearing ready to take flight. The turn in the conversation obviously made her uncomfortable. Numerous thin white scars across her forearm caught Tev’s attention.

He grasped her arm, and rolled it over so the small lines were more visible. At first she tried to pull her hand free, but Tev held tight. He traced one of the scars with his index finger, feeling a slight shiver pass through her.

"What happened?"

Krys managed to wrestle her arm free when he slackened his grip. She rubbed the disfigured area with her other hand, a clear sign that his noticing the scars disturbed her. "Nothing. An accident is all."

"Accident? Looks like you saw the end of a sharp knife as straight and fine as those scars."

She glanced at the floor, unable to look him in the eyes. Either she was ashamed or she was about to lie. He’d lay odds on the latter. "It doesn’t pertain to you," she said so faintly he barely heard her over the music.

Tev wondered if Raven hadn’t been using Krys as a donor, bloodletting on her. He had read about it on the ‘Net, but had never seen the process. A small incision would be made with a straight razor or knife, then after the blood pooled the vampyre licked it from the wound. Sucking on the laceration caused the skin to pucker and not heal as nicely. What the hell was wrong with these people?

"Did Raven do this to you?"

Krys’s head snapped up; her eyes filled with fear. "I should go."

Tev grasped her arm as she turned to leave, but she shook free. "Don’t."

"Please, Krys, something is wrong. I can see it in your face."

"You don’t know anything. All you know is what you see." She looked into his eyes, as though urging him to understand without words to not pursue the topic. "Leave it alone."

"I can’t."

I am thrilled with the look and excited for the August 1st release of my book. Yes, it's DEADLY'S sequel. Movies?

What movies have you watched this summer? Recently I have watched THOR...let me just say YUMMY factor, BEASTLY, LIMITLESS, and BAD TEACHER. I have to say that I enjoyed all of the above. Beastly had Alex Pettyfer from I AM NUMBER FOUR, always nice to see him run around for a couple of hours. Easy on the eyes. Some people didn't like it--I did. I loved the way he was humbled and how the female lead saw his goodness...even when he was being a jerk.

THOR was full of great action and big muscles. Every female cheered when Chris Hemsworth took off his shirt. Wow...nice! But as an action movie...loved it. I needed to ask myself if I still would have without the beefcake...well, maybe not as much...but still worthy of watching. Chris needs to throw away all shirts....

LIMITLESS was a pretty decent watch. What can I say...Bradley Cooper...yowsa. We already know I like Bradley movies. Good movie, but not great. Loved the concept and the ending.

And finally, BAD TEACHER with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake. I've never been a huge fan of Justin's...sorry. But the movie itself was funny! Treat yourself to a great laugh.

An author's inspiration....

Barnard article in which he promoted the use of images on streetcars for advertisement? Often times for me that can be very close to the truth. Years ago, I came across these two pictures from a Calvin Klein campaign, advertising the cologne Escape. I was definitely taken by the young man's image, later to find out he was super model Joel West. Who wouldn't be? Look at that expression...and that body! Goodness. His face, and that of model Kate Moss, launched a thousand words for me as I created my novel: DEADLY OBSESSION.

Deadly Obsession makes a comeback!

My book Deadly Obsession originally hit the scene back in 1999. As a matter of fact...it was the first book ever published of mine. It has made it's way through publishers: Dark Star, RFI West and HardShell Word Factory. I took it off the market about four or five years ago due to poor distribution...and still, it seems the one readers ask for. Don't get me wrong...I am thrilled it still gets a bit of Word of Mouth after so long.

My decision to put it out independently this time...because I'm going to be the one marketing it anyway. New York isn't buying with the whole shake-up going on. Publishing is on the verge of change. Those legacy publishers better hurry an jump on that electronic bandwagon. Self-Published? Gasp! Ask Berry Eisler fans if they care he turned down a HUGE contract to independently put out his next bestseller. Or how about Amanda Hocking's readers if they care she put her books out herself...and then...New York came knocking on her door.

More an more authors are going to go the independent distribution through booksellers like Amazon.com (Kindle) and BN.com (NOOK). Why? Because the royalties are much higher. Writers need to get paid too. So with that decision, I have decided to put out DEADLY OBSESSION and THE HOUR BEFORE DAWN myself...independently...yes, self-published...and hold my head high. I think I am in good company with all those who have decided to go the same route: JA Konrath, Berry Eisler, Amanda Hocking, not to mention a slew of others.

If I do well enough with the sales...they will be out in Paperback again someday...which I hope to do. It would be a shame not to see that gorgeous cover on a paperback! Who knows...maybe LOVE YOU TO PIECES (my latest creation...never to be yet seen) will follow in the footsteps.

Look for DEADLY OBSESSION and THE HOUR BEFORE DAWN out soon from Amazon.com and BN.com in Kindle and NOOK formats. I am excited about this new venture. And the best part...cheaper prices for the reader! My novella SANITARIUM is going for .99! Not even a buck! And DEADLY OBSESSION's price? $2.99! Who doesn't want a less costly read these days when the gas prices are skyrocketing?

Spring has sprung but Ohio hasn't gotten the memo yet. I think we've had one 80 degree day and the rest has been mostly under 60. Now I understand the whole April Showers will bring May Flowers concept...but won't these cold nights freeze them? I will certainly take blame for this one since the bulk of the winter I was yelling at Mother Nature. But really...how long can she carry a grudge?

"I wish you would quit doing that," she grumbled, hating the fact he had any affect on her at all. Just his sudden appearance brought back all the earlier feelings of desire. How pathetic was that? She needed space, and lots of it.

"So now you see. I have work to do today, Jake…if you would excuse me—"

"You are, of course, referring to the murder earlier this evening."

Her gaze snapped up and she stopped in her tracks. "And you would know this was a murder because…care to fill that one in for me, Jake?"

He shrugged. "Simple enough. You have three policemen scouring the room."

A slight smile curved her cheeks. Of course, he would note that. How stupid of her to think otherwise. "We haven’t yet determined it a murder. It’s highly unlikely Justin died of respiratory failure, just like that, no explanation. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible. We called in the police to run the scene like they would a crime…just in case."

His face remained unaffected. She had no way on knowing if he bought into her excuse until he said, "You and I both know Justin was murdered."

She rubbed the tiny bumps reappearing on her arms. "You can’t possibly know that, Jake. Even the cops haven’t made that assumption yet. They are doing their—"

"Don’t belittle my instincts, Annie. Justin Lake was murdered. I can feel it." He placed his hand over his chest, bringing to mind when her palm had been trapped there hours earlier. "I can tell you the person responsible is even more evil than I. You need to be careful."

Annie shook her head. Obviously there would be no convincing Jake he had no supernatural powers and the most he could possibly sense was nothing more than a bad case of intestinal gas. "Okay, so he’s more evil than you."

"Don’t patronize me. I can tell you don’t believe in me."

She gritted her teeth. It had been one hell of a long night and the last thing she needed was to argue with…what? A vampire? Truly! "Look, Jake, I’m not patronizing you—"

He cut off what she meant to say by gripping her throat in his large hand and backing her to the door. "Now do you fear me?" he fairly growled, his tone deep and threatening.

She nodded slowly. Hell, how could she lie to him as her knees knocked and had it not been for his hold, she would have been hard pressed to stay on her feet?

"Good…now listen to me."

New Movies...

Talk about some serious eye-candy...Bradley Cooper stars in the new movie Limitless, which opened last Friday. You can check out the trailer here: http://www.iamrogue.com/limitless I, for one, cannot wait to see the movie. It's on my 'Must See' list and hopefully, I'll get there in a couple of weeks to do just that. After watching him in several movies: What About Steve, A-Team, The Hangover (to name just a few), I have become a huge fan of his. Look at that great smile...how could you not? Right?

But as for this week...the movie I am going to see is Red Riding Hood by the makers of Twilight. Yes, I am a Twilight fan...read the books, seen all the movies. But with that said--Red Riding Hood looks a like a great dark flick. I can't wait until tomorrow! If you haven't even seen the trailer for it, you can go here: Red Riding Hood Trailer But caution...you will want to see this movie! So bring on the popcorn and Coke...yes, I am a Coke drinker.

Truth be told...there are a lot of movies out there right now that I want to see. Most I wait for the DVD to come out...but for the two above movies, I can't wait that long. February is almost to its end and you know what that means...Spring is coming and next month: St. Patty's Day. Some of you may not celebrate the day we all drink green beer...but every year I look forward to it for another reason. I celebrate the day I met my husband and got my first 'St. Patty's Day' kiss from him. How long ago you say? Twenty-eight wonderful years. I still remember the day as if it were yesterday--so that tells me, it's been bliss! So when you all raise your green glass of beer this year, say a little toast for me and my hubby and remember...HEA's (Happy Ever Afters) do happen. I'm living proof! And of course...hug a leprechaun when you see one.

Following St. Patrick's Day...we have lots of rain for the April showers. But that's okay. Remember, it's not snow!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day...

Whatever your weakness...chocolate, diamonds, Hawaii...I hope you got it this Valentine's Day! I have a weakness for purses and my dear hubby bought me a new cute purse that I absolutely love. But I am still waiting on that box of chocolates...

I also got a new cover for Valentine's Day, designed by Dara England. It matches the story so well...Sanitarium is getting an overhaul. So for those of you who never got a chance to read the story in the short lived anthology: Once in a Blue Moon, I am re-releasing the story on Kindle this spring (and hopefully Nook) if I can get this whole business figured out. I'll announce it here and on my Facebook and Twitter when I have the release. You can read an excerpt on my website or on my recent newsletter. My Christmas gift this year was Slash. Well, maybe not him personally (his wife Perla might not have liked that too well), but tickets to see him preform at the House of Blues in Chicago this past Sunday. And may I say it was one of the best Christmas gifts...he, along with his band and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, played for 2 1/2 hours. What a thrill to revisit all the old G 'n' R songs and a bunch of new ones. If you haven't checked out his Solo CD or his iTunes session with Myles--it's worth the price. I am officially hooked. Now if I can only get my Valentine's Day gift back from a few years ago. My hubby bought me Slash's biography, which a friend borrowed and never returned. Yep--you know who you are. Can I please get that back? :-)

Spring is officially around the corner and I personally cannot wait! I am thrilled that this cold weather will soon be at our backs. I have shoveled enough snow to last me a lifetime...thank you very much. I love spring, the buds on the trees, the grass turning green...that all signifies that camper season is on its way! The river, the friends, the parties...and this summer...my grandbaby will make his/her appearance! Yay! My son and daughter-in-law decided they did not want to know the sex. So it will all be a surprise.

It's 2011...where did 2010 go?

Welcome to the new year! Here's hoping everyone had a great holiday, a safe New Year and are looking forward to great things to come. Every year we hope that things will be better than the year before. For me...2010 was a good year. But that doesn't mean 2011 can't be better.

Merry Christmas...

The year has blown by and we are now dwindling down the year to Christmas, then counting down the days left until 2011! All I can say is...WOW! Where did the year go? One can reflect back on the year and think of all the things that had happened...the good, the bad and the ugly. For me--I am reflecting on the good: I got a new job, my youngest son got married, and I found out I'm going to be a grandmother. Life is good.

Christmas shopping days are also passing us by. Lucky for me, I started early this year and I am almost done! But then every time I turn around...I think of someone else I should buy for. I'm sure you all feel the same and wonder...can I afford it? Will I pay long into 2011 for this? It's the American way. Spend now...worry about it later. No...that is not responsible thinking...it's just my way.

So what are you looking forward to in 2011? Me? I want to pay off some of these bills, continue loving my job, good health for my family...and yes, that grand baby arriving in July. Right in the middle of Camping Season. I already bought him/her some little hats to keep his/her head warm!

I also plan to get Love You to Pieces out...finally and shop it around for a publisher. And...finish Sons of Sangue. Here's hoping for a great year with me making a comeback with the publishers and finding a house for my latest works. I also plan to review Deadly Obsession and The Hour Before Dawn. Maybe I'll submit them somewhere...or maybe I'll upload them myself at Kindle. Either way--the plan is to get those two stories back out there.

Here's hoping that you all have a wonderful holiday no matter which one you celebrate and to be thankful for all we do have and not dwell on the things we don't. As the holiday approaches...my hope for you all is to view it through the eyes of a child and remember the wonder and magic of the season.

Happy Thanksgiving...and Blog Jog Winner!

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and Christmas is right around the corner? I believe it was just yesterday I was sitting at the campgrounds by the river enjoying the heat and wonderful sunshine. Today, I sit in my office with a space heater running...trying to stay warm. No, it hasn't snowed yet. Nothing that has stuck, anyway.

So here's hoping that you all have a day filled with family, friends and food tomorrow! I'll be heading for my brother and sister-in-law's house...who has graciously offered to cook the meal! Looking forward to a day of relaxation...I'm usually the cook. So thanks to Mark and Melanie! I love you guys...see you tomorrow! I'll bring the wine!

Have you stopped to be thankful this year? I am thankful for so much: health, family, friends, the armed forces, good food...and this year I have a special thing to celebrate! I'm going to be a grandmother...first grandbaby. I just found out yesterday that my son and his wife have been blessed and we will be welcoming a new baby Rasey into the family next summer. I am so excited!

It's sunny and it's supposed to get to 60 degrees today, so what better way to start a week, right? I can think of a few things like hot guys, great reads, chocolate.

I can provide you a picture of a hot guy, hence the absolutely gorgeous Zac Efron. Yeah, he's young ladies...but in anticipation of his new movie, which I am dying to see, coming out on DVD tomorrow: Charlie St. Cloud, I am posting his picture for your viewing pleasure. That and I blame good friend Stacey for getting him stuck in my head.

I can provide you with reads...whether they are great or not is up to the reader. So if you are inclined to wonder about my work...they are available at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle. One great author I love for awesome reads...Lara Adrian! Her latest release TAKEN BY MIDNIGHT is a fantastic read. Check her website out at www.laraadrian.com! You won't be sorry. She does wonderfully sexy vamps like no other!

And as for the chocolate...run to your local store and pick some up for today! What are you waiting for? There is nothing like a good chocolate pick-me-upper.

By now you are probably asking: Does she actually have a point to to this blog? The answer to that is likely not. I'm a goofball by nature and I am rarely serious. I always say life is too short so have fun with it.

I'm in the middle of my WIP, which vampires are the center of the action. Yes, one will be the hero...and hopefully one will turn into three books. So, I best get writing. Kindle Beta Tester...cool tool?

The Internet is a huge and wonderful thing! I personally love reading books on Readers. I have the iPad with the iBooks, Nook, and Kindle Apps installed. I can download books right onto the iPad and never have to go to my computer. Cool? You bet it is.

I can also install those same apps on my iTouch and read on it--a much smaller and manageable device to read on than the iPad's bigger and bulky form, JMHO. The neat thing about the Kindle (haven't tried this with the Nook, but it doesn't work with iBook) is it doesn't matter if I pick up the iPad or the iTouch...it will sync with whichever one I read last. Now THAT is cool!

I also own the Sony eReader--which is a favorite because it looks like paperback paper while you read and no glare. However--you do have to connect with a computer to get your books. It does have long battery life--but isn't backlit--you need a light at night.

Anyway--I just saw this really cool app from Amazon to promote our books in Kindle. So I thought I'd give it a try. Why not? So--try it out and read the first Chapter of FACADE...who knows, you might even like it enough to hit, 'Get Kindle Edition.' :-)

Why is it that we crave sugar? I cannot resist things like cookies, cake, ice cream, cappuccinos, chocolate and the list could go on. And so could my waist line. My mother is real good about putting these things in front of me and I cannot resist.

Why can't I crave exercise? Sounds logical. Put a treadmill in front of me and I'll get on it. I'll WANT to get on. Nope...didn't work. As I sit and type, one sits at my back and what I really want is a fat blueberry muffin.

Now I heard if you put a picture of a skinny girl in a bikini on the 'fridge door, you will resist eating. Nope...doesn't work. All I wanted to do was say, 'Bitch' every time I grabbed the 'fridge door.

So--I came up with a new idea all on my own. Put pictures of hotties everywhere! On my computer background, around my writing desk. On the 'fridge door? Why not! It may not keep me from heading for the goodies...

....but it sure makes me smile.

So today...enjoy Enrique...

New opportunities to thrill...

Recently, I was offered a wonderful new opportunity in life...one that really makes me grateful for wonderful friends...and now a great boss. I loved my old job, will miss my co-workers...like crazy, and miss my old boss as well.

I read a book called Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson...great motivational book. Read it! It talks about being ready for change and moving with it, not resisting it. Be ready for the next big thing in life. Don't get too comfortable and let life pass you by. I really thought the book related to my current position and how we were changing as a company--I had no idea that it was screaming at me to take the knew opportunity at hand.

Well, ten weeks later...here I am. Ready for change. Ready to better myself...and ready to get back writing as well. So here's my way of nudging you...if a once in a lifetime opportunity comes along and seems too good to pass up...don't! Grab the bull by the horns and run with it.

Don't let your dreams die like I have the past few years...no worries because now I plan to try and resurrect it! Have a great week!

Summer has gone....

Let's recap my summer...shall we? I danced with my son, and gave him into the arms of his beautiful bride, went on vacation (hubby got sick...but he's better now), flew off to Texas for training for work, came home and accepted a new position. Yikes...it wasn't planned, but I am excited about my new venture. It seems as though we haven't spent a lot of time at the camper due to the many 95+ degree days we had...and now the summer is at its end, along with the camper season. So it's time to start closing the doors and shutting out the cold (along with the fresh air).

Wow...it's that time already? Someone told me that it seems summer comes and goes but winter lasts forever. That's Ohio weather for you. Hot one day and cold the next. Maybe now I'll be able to get back to writing and stop fiddle farting around! That's the hope. I am finally immersing myself in a new idea that hopefully rocks and is different enough to get noticed by the big guys. Cross your fingers...it's time to get back in the swing and get this book rolling!

I hope you all had a great summer. Winter isn't all that bad...okay, maybe it is. ;-) At least the cold stuff, anyway.

Big things coming...

It's been a long time since I posted here. A lot has been going on in my life, as I am sure happens in all our lives. Doesn't it seem like we allow life to pass us by and we never take time for the important stuff? I know that's been true in my life for the last five or so years. The economy forced me back to work full time...for which I worked for a wonderful company and was very grateful for the opportunity. However--my writing, promotion...and yes, my friends seemed to all take a backseat to the job.

But all of that is about to change. I've been offered a wonderful opportunity to work from home...thanks to some very special and wonderful friends...they know who they are. I can't possibly thank them enough. And along with that opportunity, I get to return to my writing.

Maybe LOVE YOU TO PIECES will see the light of day yet. Huh? I've also begun a new idea since Vampires are huge...so stay tuned.

The end of September will end the old job...and in with the new. So look for more blog posts from me...hope everyone had a fabulous summer!

Getting older...another milestone...

Well...after a year of planning, the day in nearly upon us and it's official: I feel old! Well, maybe not old old...just older. My baby is getting married on Saturday. I'm not sad because his fiancee is a wonderful girl and I can't wait to call her daughter-in-law. She's a perfect fit for my son....but when did I get this darn old?

They say you are only as old as you feel. Some days that's not a good thing. Our bodies require so much more tender loving care! And some days I don't feel like I left my twenties. Most days I don't ACT like I left my twenties. LOL

So get out the party dress...kick up the heels and let's celebrate a great union! Congrats Tory and Katelyn...I love you both! Now let's party!

Remembering all who served today...
